Well, we’ve got some great news for everyone out there who owns a computer with an Intel GMA series video card. These cards are commonly “on-board”, meaning that they are integrated with the motherboard and provide a nice low-cost option for users who don’t require a lot of 3D horsepower.
Well, Steam Brigade is a game that doesn’t require a lot of 3D horsepower either, so we were pretty sad to hear that it didn’t run on some systems with this video card.
A little detective work turned up the fact that the Intel GMA series cards have a bug in their implementation of OpenGL (a common sort of language for 3D applications). A work-around was provided in an updated version of AllegroGL (a library we use in Steam Brigade), and thanks to some beta-testing from the community, we now know that it works.
So, thanks to everyone who reported the problem or helped us test the fix. As usual, anyone can download the new version from the side-bar and install it overtop of the old one.

Just an incremental update. We fixed a few bugs in this version, and reduced the size of the download by about 5mb. This is mostly due to the localization process we’ve been going through to make the Steam Brigade work in other languages.
Good News / Bad News · 901 days ago by Ryan Thom
Well, I have good news and bad news. The good news is that there are some amazing things happening here at Pedestrian Entertainment. The bad news is that we can’t tell you what the good news is! At least not for a little while yet.
In the mean time, I can do a little house cleaning and pass on a couple links here…
I found this the other day on YouTube – it’s an interview Colin and I did at Slamdance.
Also, if you haven’t seen it already, our ‘making of’ trailer is available.
Oh, and there’s some other great news I can’t tell you yet, but don’t worry – it arrives with the new version of the game, due out in a week. Talk to you then!

It’s finally here. The new version of Steam Brigade with the expanded campaign is finished and ready to play. The new campaign is about three times the size of the original, and packed with interesting puzzles. The biggest change is the addition of “objective” missions. In these missions, the way to win can be totally different than usual. It may be that you have to hold a bunker for 5 minutes, or maybe shoot down the enemy airship. It’s a chance for you to catch your breath in between the boss battles, learn some new skills, and be challenged in new ways.
There have been numerous interface improvements as well, which should make gameplay a bit smoother. Oh, and there’s been one major rule change: the Airship will no longer explode when it runs out of steam. This will give you a better chance of making it home to refuel, but you won’t be able to carry anything heavy until you do. Heh, and keep in mind you can still get shot down!
The rest I’ll let you discover on your own. As usual, you can download the new build and install it over the old one. Have fun, and keep your comments and suggestions coming!
